I started to take Cellcept in 1996 after my transplant. I have been taking 1000 mg twice daily. At first, I had a loose stool and heard this was normal and after a period of time it would subside. Well that was not good enough for me. I called my transplant coordinator and told her that I was going to increase my enzymes that I take for my Cystic Fibrosis. Well it worked well for me. I do remember having to switch my enzymes to another brand at the time. I do not remember which one I was taking then. After my second transplant, I realized the importance for me that without taking my probiotics, I would have trouble with taking Cellcept. I have tried to take less probiotics and when this would happen, my stomach would experience an unpleasant experience. Once I would go back onto my probiotics, taking Cellcept works fine. A friend of mine who had a double lung transplant found when she had high amounts of fresh garlic her Cellcept numbers went very high. I am interested to hear about your experiences taking Cellcept.

All in all I've had pretty good experience with my Cellcept use, though I am only taking a fraction of your dose (250 mg. twice a day), there is still an occasional 'loose stool', but hey I can live with that. Never had the opportunity to see any variance due to differing foods - though I do use a lot of garlic when I cook, which is often. How would one check that?

I have been on Cellcept since transplant in 2007. It helps with my transplant and with my Ulcerative Colitis. For me it has my UC completely under control and has virtually eliminated my "loose stools".

I take the generic brand of cellcept, prednisone, and prograf. I was hospitalized recently with a virus and they took me totally off my cellcept while there and for 2 weeks afterwards. When I had my lab work 2 weeks later, my creatinine was the best if had ever been. However, they put me back on it at my next doctor's appt. I was wondering if any of you just take prograf and prednisone and don't take cellcept at all. Thanks. |
