Hi Mitch Welcome! First of all, I would clean your shoes (wash the linings with a tea tree oil spray or make up your own. After a shower dry your feet well. I would disinfect your shower as well. I never had a toe nail fungus but had athletes foot many years ago and I used tea tree oil. Do not buy the tea tree oil creme as this might make your foot slip. There is also ionic silver that you can buy which I believe is great for topical use. I am in a super rush right now so I cannot go into more detail. Look up some of these suggestions. Watch your diet. Sugar will breed fungus in the body.

Hi Mitch check out this blog thread http://www.transplantbuddies.org/tbx/messages/13/13.html?1310754468 the link talks about fungus. I would only try this if you are going to wear socks as you do not want to slip.

White Vinegar? are you kidding? there's no good home remedies product for toenail fungus. it's better to try the homeopathic medicine as it was undergo with comprehensive research and study. The popular one here is the oil Fungusil. They said it's easy to use, comfortable and effective. |

Tea tree oil, vinegar, vicks vaporub, Listerine are some useful home remedies for the treatment of toenail fungus. You can apply tea tree oil on the affected toenail for 10 to 15 minutes twice daily. You can soak your affected toenail on listerine. It kill off the fungus and provides relief from its symptoms. Further, you can also rub vicks vaporub on your nails before going to bed. For complete eradication, you can use |

If you are looking for a remedy, there are some pills that you can take, but you have to be careful because of interaction with transplant drugs. I take it once a week, when normally, a person would take it more often. The drug is called fluconazole. I think if you google the name along with drug interactions, you will find transplant meds of some kind have interaction.

It makes no difference what you use, it will take time to get rid of it. Couple that with the fact that I cannot take it as often as they recommend makes it even more difficult to rid myself of the problem.

Hi Guys!! Don't fall out of your chairs - I am finally posting again. One of my New Year's resolutions is to check in on Buddies at least once a day. Here I am!! I actually have something to say about toenail fungus. I have had it most of my life. I tried oral Lamisil like 15 years ago. YIKES!! I took it for a couple of weeks and totally LOST all taste. No kidding! I could not taste a thing for 10 weeks. At that time, no one knew about that particular side effect. I finally got a straight answer from a drug rep. Go figure. Anyways, I didn't take it long enough for it to affect my systemic fungus, so I just lived with it. The good news is that after my lung transplant I was put on Sporanox. After about 2 months I noticed that my toenail fungus was gone. Yipee!! I have been able to stay on the Sporanox because there was fungus found in my old lungs. The docs think it is a good idea for me to just stay on it as long as my labs are good - which they are. So...the "joke" is that I got a 2 bangs for my buck - new lungs and clear toenails!! I can finally wear sandals now. I can breathe and wear sandals - something is "wrong" with that picture!!! LOL!!! It feels good to be back!! I hope everyone is doing well! God Bless!
