I have an appointment with my dentist, my dermatologist and my primary care physician in addition to seeing my nephrologist. I think that's it, but you never know.

Dental health has not changed at all except my dentist contacted my transplant team to be sure there was no extra precautions to take. Have had two cleanings since then with no unusual preparations and no illness/sickness at all in the past 9 mos. |

My main concern as far as the dentist's is keeping my teeth healthy despite the trouble I have with acid reflux and dry mouth. I have made sure to brush many times throughout the day, pay more attention to the dry mouth and get in more fluids as possible, and use a special prescribed toothpaste at night that has extra fluoride for protection. So far, I have been very fortunate in that I have not had a cavity or needing a filling since my transplant although I did have to part with my last two wisdom teeth. I suppose I am no longer wise, but how can one lose what one never had?

My transplant team has me take the same antibiotic before dental visits as well. Best of wishes.
