Hello beautiful people! I haven't posted in ages but I still lurk around fairly often. I just wanted to mention that Friday marked my fifth year out from my double-lunger (from CF). Somehow I've made it this far without any transplants related bumps in the road, no rejection or infections etc. I consider myself extremely lucky and mildly paranoid, but I haven't denied myself anything I did before tx. Just thought some might be happy to hear the news, especially those on the list still waiting for those precious hearts and lungs. Have hope! Happiness, Hermit (Christine, age 32 from Vancouver, Canada) |

Congrats, Hermit ! I participated in a discussion the other day where many people were told by their doctors that once they made if over the 5 year hump, long term survival goes up significantly. Don't know if that's true, but I'm now at 7 years post double lung transplant, and I'm feeling great. I DID, however, make major changes to my diet, practices, etc. I used to eat whatever raw or almost raw food that showed up on my plate, from sushi to sunny-side up eggs, and I now avoid much of what I know to be risky behavior. We are all different, and also blessed to still be alive and breathing after our respiratory diseases almost put us 6 feet under.
