Toni Bernhard is the author of How To Be Sick, a Buddhist Inspired Guide for the Chronically Ill and their Caregivers. The book is excellent. She contracted a virus while in Paris that has left her with a chronic illness.

Here is a link to a radio interview where she talks about how illness affects everyone around you:

She deals with how your illness affects your caregiver as well. Although the interview is an hour, it is worth the time to listen.
